San Diego, synonymous with beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, and scenic locales, offers a wealth of places to take your date or significant other. With so many places to choose from, however, it can be difficult to determine the best spot to take a date.
Being a San Diego native, I’ve discovered some of the better places to bring a date, spouse, or significant other in this beautiful city. If you’ve always wondered where to go, check out some of these hot spots.
For one of the best combinations of fine dining and live entertainment, Anthology offers the best of both worlds. The atmosphere is quintessentially romantic, with subdued lighting and a relaxed, upscale-casual environment for couples who prefer something more intimate than a traditional bar or club.
Their menu offers a variety of delicious choices which change daily, but includes a selection of seafood, salads, beverages, and gourmet burgers. It’s a little pricier than most establishments, but the atmosphere, live music, and food are well worth the price.
Dave and Buster’s
If you and your date prefer a more upbeat atmosphere, Dave and Buster’s is the place to be. Think of it as an adult version of Chuckee Cheese, but with a full-service bar and better food. Prepare for big crowds, hearty meals, and arcade games that seem exceptionally fun after a drink or three.
They offer several specials, depending on the day of the week, so plan your date around happy hour or Monday Night Football, if your date is into sports.
Bahia Belle Boat Cruise
For an exceptionally unique date, spend the evening aboard the Bahia Belle. Enjoy cocktails, live music, dancing, and beautiful views of Mission Bay, with stops at the Bahia and Catamaran Resorts. For $10 per adult, it’s an inexpensive yet exciting date that’s sure to please.
If you plan to take a date here, keep in mind that cruises run only Friday and Saturday evenings through the months of January, February, March, April, September, October and November. Cocktail cruises begin at 9:30 PM, and the last cocktail cruise runs at 12:30 AM.
Located in the quaint, old fashioned Old Town district of San Diego, El Indio restaurant is a must for those who enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine at exceptional prices. Great for a first date, the upbeat, friendly atmosphere will put you at ease and help you avoid any first date jitters.
The menu offers traditional Mexican classics, as well as some unique dishes you may enjoy, such as the San Diego burrito with grilled chicken breast. Their breakfast menu also offers a surprising amount of choices if you and your date are early birds.
While these are certainly not the only date spots in San Diego, you will definitely enjoy these selections.
There’s something for every taste, no matter what you and your date enjoy. Dating in San Diego offers a wealth of establishments to choose from, but I encourage you to give these hot spots a try the next time you’re on a romantic rendezvous with a special someone.
